I had the honor and the pleasure to transform the legendary actress @janefonda hair specially for the 2020 Oscar. Spending 7 hours with this amazing Hollywood star and witnessing her energy, beauty, strength and femininity was so inspiring. For straight 7 hours while I was working on her hair she was writing chapters in her due soon book, and memorizing her lines in the famous tv show Frankie and grace that she is shooting the 7th season now, answering emails and reading her newspapers plus communicating with me and her team with the sweetest, humblest soul, she made me feel ashamed to complain of being tired. This experience was extremely great and I will never forget this amazing day, thanks to the talented @jjhanousek and @deleonmakeup for nominated me to her. Formula: Jane had about 3 inches of her salt and pepper natural roots and the rest was a little tired warm golden blonde, her goal color was a silver icy blonde to surprise everyone at the 2020 Oscar presenting the final award winner for the movie of the year. I started the 7 hours process by giving miss Fonda a platinum card, by bleaching all her hair back to back by taking very thin sections in foils using @oligopro extra blonde with 20 vol and olaplex on the virgin hair and 10 vol with @olaplex on previously colored hair. Once I reached very pale blonde level 11 After 3 hours processing rinsed hair and did olaplex number 2 for 20 minutes, rinsed hair then prtone hair to cancel all the yellowish hue in the hair and prepare a solid white canvas by using @redken shade eq 1/2 oz 9B + 1/2 oz 10vv mixed with 3 once of clear (00) and double the total amount of processing solution for about 10 minutes, rinsed hair, towel dried and apply the final toner by @wellahairusa blondor 1/2 pale silver + 1/2 pale platinum mixed with 6 vol developer for 30 minutes, shampooed, conditioned. This beautiful client came to me seeking grey silver color to blend and match her natural gray roots so she can stop coloring her hair every 4 weeks , total service was 6 hours. I started the long process by cutting about 2 inches of the length and gave her layers because I always believed in building the house then paint it, then I bleach the whole head starting from where her artificial color starts in foils by taking very thin sections leaving her natural grey roots untouched by using @redken flashlight lightener with 20 vol and @olaplex for 3 hours, after hour and half I reopened each foil and reapplied a new lightener mixture on the warm areas until I reached the lightest pale blonde, rinsed hair, then toned with @pravana 10.07 mixed with zero lift developer for 30 minutes. For this transformation I lightened the whole head by taking then slice section in long @framar foils so it get light fast and it wouldn’t over process the hair already light, because if I take thick sections that has warm hair and over processed hair until I get the warm areas to lift the over process hair will fall out so taking a thin section help saving the hair, I used @redken flashlight with 20vol and @olaplex until I reached level 10 blonde, I feathered the lightener at roots to create nice transition. Rinsed hair, towel dried then applied pravana 6N with 6 vol on roots for blending. Then applied @pravana 1/2 10N + 1/2 10.07 with 6 vol on the rest of the length for 30 minuets, Olaplex number 2, shampooed, cut layers, style with round brushes. This gorgeous client was extremely tired of coloring her hair every 3 weeks so we decided to match her hair with her roots . In this transformation I lightened the whole hair in foils by taking very thin sections using @redken flash light with 20 vol and @olaplex and leaving her natural roots untouched until I reached level 10 pale blonde, rinsed, towel dried and and pre-toned the yellow with @redken shade eq 1/2 9V + 1/2 9B with double the amount clear (00) mixed with equal amount processing solution for 20 minutes. Rinsed the hair again, dry 70% and applied @wellahairusa blondor permanent toner 1/2 pale silver with 1/2 pale platinum and one cap full of brass kicker with 6 vol for 30 minutes. Then dry hair again and create the low lights in foils to match the pattern of her roots using @kenraprofessional 6NUA with 10 vol for 30 minutes( when you are applying the low light on silver base hair it won’t go brassy when it fade), when its time to rinse the dark part first apply conditioner on the silver hair outside the foils to avoid the silver from getting stained once you remove the foils of the dark strands, shampoo Cut a la garcon haircut and style with small round brushes. You will never tell this hair color isn’t her natural color. When the blending is seamless. Matching the pattern of the natural regrow is very important for blending the hair color, but don’t be afraid to add extra wider silver strands to make the hair more glamorous, we don’t want our ladies to look like just a grey hair growing out. For colorists that are interested in doing this transformation the most important step in this transformation is to be creative, if you feel you aren’t strong enough yet invite a close relative that won’t kill you if anything goes wrong and practice, practice, practice, if you don’t do mistakes like I did and still do you won’t learn and be confident to charge what you are worth. Some ladies they only have heavy grey around their front hair line the same as this beautiful client of mine who came from Arizona and I just framed her face with silver strands to blend her hair line grey roots to blend with the length of the hair in an artistic way. I created front grey strands to match her roots using @wellahair blondor lightener with 20 vol and @olaplex for 4 hours then toned with @wellahairusa blondor pale silver toner mixed with 6 vol and brass kicker applied on the bleached hair only for 20 minutes. Then I toned the brassy hair with guytang @guytang_mydentity dark Shadow for 30 min with 10 vol. This beautiful client had almost black hair with lots of damaged areas due to previous over processed highlights that has been covered again with black color. Goal is to give her icy blonde color to blend with her 80% grey roots. First I cut about 3 inches from the bottom and relayered around the face. Then used @matrix color eraser to lift the hair to a level 8 golden blonde, then I lightened the previously colored areas by taking thin sections In foils using @lanzahaircare l'anza cream decolorizer which is an amazing lightener with an oil base that will condition the hair while it’s lifting it, mixed with 20 vol and @olaplex for 4 hours until I reached my desired light level. Rinsed hair then toned with @matrix color sync sheer acidic toner steel with 6 vol developer for 20 min, rinsed, used olaplex number 2 for 20 minutes. Shampoo, condition and style with round brushes. Some ladies have only heavy grey around their front hair line the same as this beautiful client of mine so just by framing her face with silver strands to blend her hair line grey roots with the length of the hair in an artistic way will give her a nice blending overall. This method wouldn’t take a very long time just about 3-4 hours and client will leave very happy. I used @guytang_mydentity shadow roots with 10 vol to tone her hair to match her natural charcoal roots then I created front grey strands to match her roots as well using @redken flashlight with 20 vol and @olaplex for 40 minutes then toned twice with @redken shades eq , first 1/2 oz 9v+ 1/2 oz 9B with 1 oz clear + 2 oz or processing solution for 20 minutes, rinsed then 1/2 oz of 9B + 1/2 oz of clear mixed with 1 oz of processing solution for another 20 minutes. This beautiful client came to me with hair that had multi different light and dark brassy colors, she was seeking gray silver ashy color to blend and match her gray roots so she can stop coloring her hair every 3-4 weeks, total service was 8 hours and one session, I started the long process by cutting her hair to a shorter bob with layers, then I bleach the whole head starting from where her gray roots starts in foils using @redken flash lift power 9 with 20 vol with @olaplex leaving her gray roots out for about 4 hours by foiling the hair based on her root gray pattern very thin sections for faster and even lifting until I reached level 10 pale yellow blonde, at the same time all the hair that was left outside the foils I colored it with redken gels 1/2 5AB + 1/2 7Ab mixed with 10 vol for about 30 min to create that salt and pepper look. I Then rinsed hair, toned with @redken shade eq 1/2 oz 9b + 1/2 oz 9v mixed with 2oz Cristal clear and 3 oz of processing solution for 20 minuets, rinsed, shampooed, conditioned, cut about 1 1/2” of the ends and did some layering. styled with round brushes. This beautiful client came to me seeking gray silver color to blend and match her gray roots so she can stop coloring her hair, I started the long process by removing the artificial level 5 warm brown dye using @joico color intensity easer mixed with 10 vol for 30 minutes only on the hair that had been colored before, at this point the hair got from level 5 to level 9-8 orange yellow, rinsed hair then I lightened the whole head starting from where her gray roots starts by taking thin and wide strands in foils to match her natural grey roots pattern using big9 @guytang_mydentity and 20 vol developer mixed with @olaplex leaving her gray roots out for about 1-1/2 hours until I reached level 10 pale yellow blonde, at the same time all the hair that was left outside the foils I colored it with guytang mydentity dark shadow mixed with 6 vol for about 30 min to create that salt and pepper look, then rinsed hair, pre toned with redken shade eq 3/4 oz 9B + 1/4 oz 9V + 1 oz Cristal clear (00) mixed with 2 oz of processing solution for 20 minuets to cancel all the yellow from the hair, rinsed again, dried hair then applied Kenra silver metallic 10 SM with 6 vol for 30 minuets, Olaplex number 2 for 20 minutes, then shampooed, conditioned, styled with round brushes. This gorgeous client came to me from Northern California seeking silver hair to match her roots. I lightened the whole head in foils just the colored hair by taking very thin sections in lots of foils using the amazing extra blonde by oligopro with 20 vol and the amazing @olaplex until I reached level 10 natural blonde and toned the hair with wellahairusa blondor new permanent toner 1/2 pale silver and 1/2 pale platinum with 2 capful brass kicker mixed with 6 vol for 30 minutes. Formula: I lightened only the colored hair in foils by taking thin back combed sections ( back combed only the natural roots for better blending with the rest of the hair) using the amazing blondor by @wellahairusa with 20 vol and the amazing @olaplex for 3 hours until I reached level 10 pale blonde and toned the hair with Wella blondor new permanent toner pale platinum mixed with 6 vol for 30 minutes. Olaplex number 2 for 20 min, shampoo, cut and style with round brushes. Did the whole transformation in 8 hours.
